A MOBILE PHONE aimed at four year old children has been released.
Called 1stFone, the handset was announced yesterday by a firm that has already released a simplified phone for the elderly.
This one is aimed at kids, or rather, parents who think that four year olds should have a mobile phone monthly contract, and it looks like a cruddy toy.
It is a very stripped down handset that limits who toddlers can talk to on a mobile phone. This makes some odd kind of sense to us. Like matches designed for tiny hands, or booster shoes for children that want to drive a car but can't reach the pedals.
"The 1stFone is the little phone that let's your child talk to the people they need and that's it! Peace of mind for you and a first phone for your child," said the announcement.
"The 1stFone is the world's simplest mobile phone but that's not all! It has a bunch of innovative features that make it a great phone for you and your child."
There are five kid friendly colour options, including Black Skulls and Green Dinosaur, and any parent that wants their toddler to phone them and tell them that someone ate mud, or pulled someone else's hair, can choose to buy it on a monthly or pay as you go basis.
To protect four year old children whose gadget mad parents think are old enough to have phones, the 1stFone does not offer internet or text messages. It can be locked down so that only approved contacts can be called.
"There's no text or internet - just good old-fashioned voice calls and you decide who the phone can call. Peace of mind for you and a first phone for your child," said the firm.
"With a compact, screen-free design, the 1stFone is easy for small hands to use and tough enough to survive bumps and scrapes. It's also super lightweight and perfect for children to carry or wear when they're playing outside, walking to school or sleeping over with friends." ยต
